    Sigh

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
                                                                                                                                                       ——Mark Twain

    From My PS ©

My ambition to be a legal pioneer is deeply rooted in my family history, which has paralleled a period of drastic social and economic transformation in modern China. When I was born, the country had just come out of the Cultural Revolution, an extreme political movement characterized by social chaos and economic devastation. During those tumultuous ten years, at the age of eleven, my mother was deprived of both her parents. As a child, my mother suffered so much misery that she should not have had to face. China let slip a golden chance to develop fast in those years while soared the economies of other Asian regions. The unimaginable miseries and indelible scars on my elder generations contrasted strikingly with my carefree childhood. I have grown up in a comfortable family in Shenzhen, a city turning itself from a fishing village into a metropolis with the most vigorous economy in China in just twenty years, largely because of the government’s open-up policy and legal construction there. History has told me that the origin of the Cultural Revolution is people’s ignorance of the law, and at an even deeper level, the imperfect mechanism of law. On the other hand, Shenzhen’s development has shown me that law and order is crucial to secure a society’s prosperity, and only in a lawful society can people enjoy a life free of worry and have the chance to fully develop themselves. Such instillation has shaped my resolution to become a leading contributor to the legal field. The ideal of a well-ordered and prosperous society is worthy of my lifelong endeavors.
